Electrolux integrated dishwasher no longer heating water

    Folks,

As the title says, my 7 year old Electrolux ESL6251 integrated dishwasher has recently stopped heating the water so has basically become useless overnight. Dishes are still dirty and wet at the end of any cycle i put on.

The question basically is should i just bite the bullet and buy a new one or could it be fixed for cheap enough? I'm assuming its the element or thermostat (or both) that have gone.

Does anyone have an experience with this problem? any idea of cost call out/parts?

    Thanks,

    Jones

Generally anything over 6 years is gone. It will cost a minimum of 100, and some other parts might break down a couple of months later. My advice would be to replace. I know it's a pain, but electrical household items are super cheap (relative to income 20 years ago) these days.

On the other hand you could be lucky, and it might keep going for years but it's unlikely...

I was thinking that myself its just the dishwasher is still technically working well and was washing brilliantly up to last week. Think its time to get a new one though because as you said spending a 100 minimum and for something else to go in 6 months would really p*ss me off ha.

Quick question which Dishwashers makes are highly recommended? Was looking at Bosch, Zanussi or Whirlpool for around €350 mark

Bosch all the way, but Zanussi is generally fine. Try not to get the cheapest model of either. Skip all other brands on your budget.

Can get a good deal on an intergrated Hoover model...has anyone any experience with them?

I would personally say avoid. I'd have a Beko quicker than a Hoover/Candy.

The repair might not be over a 100euro. It could be something small that could be wrong with it. Bosch/Siemens or whirlpool are good brands for integrated DW

    Folks,

I decided to drop the Hoover it was slightly too deep for my cabinet so now I'm looking at two Bosch models one from DID and one from Powercity. They are around the same price.

The one from DID is a newer model SMV40C40GB but the one from powercity, while older, seems to be a slightly higher spec model SMV50C00GB.

Am i being too anal over this? Any advise or does it really matter??

Ok i just ordered the Bosch SMV40C40GB from DID got a slightly better price. Thanks for all the help folks

before you spend any money on a new one have a look along the lower edge of the door, examine the wiring harness you may have a broken lead which is quite a common problem when they get older
