Whoop whoop! If this came about this would be bloody epic, what would the international interest be like though? Would it appeal to the casual fan?

Brilliant. I can't seee what else Rigo can do. There is 0 at 122 lbs for him. He will waste away there and achieve little. To date he only has one solid win at the weight. Move up the 4 lbs and challenge yourself. I would have to favor Lomachenko here. Unless Rigo gets a KO he won't outwork or outsmart Lomachenko over 12 rds. No way.

Is it at a 124 lbs catch-weight? FFS. In other words, Rigo doesn't at all fancy it.

Lomachenko is holding out for 126 and nothing else. Would be a great fight. You would have to favour Lomachenko who seems to get better and better with every fight which is scary considering how polished he is already. I still Rigondeaux would find a way though. He hasn't been tested massively yet and I think, even at his age he has lots more to offer that we haven't seen.

Yes that's what I read but I think Loma fought at 126 the last time out and weighed 125 on the scales so no big difference. Rehydration limit of 135 for this one apparently.

Na it's 126 or nothing for Loma and his team. Loma's manager said rumours of a catchweight fight being agreed are nonsense as it's the featherweight division.

Good question but I don't think it will at all. Can't wait for it though!

Seems odd that they'd make Loma get to 124 and then allow him be a LW on fight night. Must be banking on the 2 lbs difference between 126 and 124 being a real drain for Loma.

Lomachenko was 125lbs in a professional fight before, would 1lb really make a critical difference?

So why then would the opposing team ask for it? I don't know if it would make a difference, but maybe the thinking is that Loma is already struggling hard to make 125 and 126, and that he probably is due a 4 lbs weight gain very soon. This would maybe make him being asked to go lower than 125 a big ask. 124 lbs not today or next weeK or next moth, but a few months down the line. The key word in your post is "before."

I can see the reason for Rigo's team seeking the catch weight but really hope it's knocked back.

If you are going up to challenge the man for his 126lb belt then you have need to abide by weight class imho.

The rehydration clause should be standardised in every weight division as per the IBF imo.

Would be an intriguing fight. Rigo likes to set and work at his own pace while Lomo fights at a blistering pace. This combined with his size advantage could pose problems for Rigo.

I think the first round could literally map out how the fight will go. Can Rigo negate Lomo's arsenal and control the pace.

    Fascinating really.

The key for me is whether or not Rigo can discourage/hurt Loma when he connects clean. If not then Loma will have too much attacking foot speed. He will make this an in close fight where IMO Rigo has little to offer. If Rigo can really hurt Loma then Loma is forced to think hard before darting in to close distance. Thing is, from range Loma is more than capable of boxing with Rigo.

What a potentially excellent bout. Gonna really enjoy trying to figure out what way it will pan out on fight night. I'm pretty sure this is gonna be a twelve rounder, the technicality on show is gonna be top class I think. Can't see any major spoiling / running or messing in this one.
