Hi any thoughts /advice or experience of taking a course of antibiotics before a major weekend sportive (the etape).Coming down with a chest infection went to docs he gave me antibiotocs but not sure if there will be any side effects or negative effects on performance ? Doctot says not to use unless it gets worse but may be too late for them to take effect if i leave it too late

I think doing the etape with pneumonia is probably ill advised.

As someone with a chronic lung condition who pick up infections my advice is be careful. Long day even in warm conditions and the wind chill on descents is likely to aggravate your chest if its not full cleared.
A post etape infection could be a bigger problem.

Hope you do get it done and stay safe.

Speak to your doctor/take his advice - never start any threads asking for medical advice anywhere on Boards

    Thanks
