Heating Query - Expansion Tank and Venting

I'm in the process of swapping out my hot water cylinder. Due to the fact that the new cylinder is larger I have problems routing the secondary vent pipe from the top of the cylinder to the cold water system.

The existing vent pipe, now two feet lower than the new draw-off pipe, is buried in a five foot thick wall and can't be budged. I presume I have to take the vent pipe directly to the cistern without any downward trajectories. The cold water cistern is sitting on an external flat roof.

Is there anything to stop me running the secondary vent into the more conveniently located primary feed and expansion tank. (Obviously with separate piping).

The expansion tank, with an overflow pipe fitted, is in the roof space directly above the cylinder, at a similar height to the cold water cistern.
