Using a WD MyCloud as a time capsule?

Looking to get a time capsule to use on a three mac network. The official apple one is expensive enough & I can get a WD MyCloud as a NAS drive - 6GB for less than the cost of a 3TB apple device.

Anyone used one? Anything I need to be aware of ?

It does support Time Machine backups but over WiFi it will be slow. I'm not sure if it can support more than one backup at a time though, i.e. backing up multiple Macs.

My experience with these hasn't been great to be honest. Very slow to transfer to/from long delays before giving a file listing in shares, I even bought a 1GB Switch and hard-wired it to the Mac Ethernet port but it's still like wading through treacle all the time.

There are better but more expensive NAS units available Synology comes highly recommended by others here and I did install one to a customers site and was very impressed with it's performance.
