The new cyclesuperstore in Tallaght that's being done up now, looks to be massive! Certainly the biggest in Ireland I would say...(CRC in Belfast a close 2nd?)

Could explain why the current store is awful! :D

Bit harsh I have always found CSS fine.

Not really, I mean it's all looking a bit tired and dull in the showroom, especially when you compare it to something modern like the Giant store on the LMR.
I find the stock limited, and expensive..

Maybe they have stayed away from trying to bring in more stock until they move.

I think CRC is one of the biggest in the world, nevermind Ireland...

If you sign up with a store account you get a discount which gets progressively better the more you spend.

Also, I find their service and general attitude to be great.

Biggest online retailer, their storehouse is huge, the shop itself is still pretty big though.

If you're talking in pure revenue terms, its hard to see anyone beating Chain Reaction.

It's a crazy amount of stock CRC receive and send out. I'd imagine Wiggle is much the same.

Looking forward to seeing the new CSS, great to see them working on the community element too. I'd really like to see them take in some stock that's not dedicated to racing/tri/performance though. Soma/Vo/Compass and the like spring to mind.

Wiggle had just overtaken CRC in terms of revenues for the first time ever this year. CRC had slipped a little in terms of customer service but they have bounced back IMO.

I was of course speaking in terms of retail shop size and not revenue, which obviously CRC has the higher revenue...
And was in fact just comparing the CRC retail store in Belfast to the new CSS which is opening soon in Tallaght..

ive bought plenty from cycle superstore...frames...wheels...components applenty- but i went off it mid last year and havent been back more than 3 times since
staff quality has deteriorated and stock is hit and miss..
ive checked things online- drove up and they dont have it!
it is also not cheap..allowing for mentioned discounts
online sadly is still cheaper than almost any LBS but i always give the LBS (or 2 of them!) a chance first...if they cant or dont want to match the price then fair enough- business doesnt always allow them to... ive found 80% of the time they do though.
CSS dont play that way though....price ..."fixed discount" and thats it..
good luck to them in their new store...will certainly have a look but wont be paying over the top to pay for its fit out!

Never mind online - I've telephoned them to ensure something is in stock and despite assurances that it is, I've driven out only to be disappointed.

Ordered a Garmin off them last Monday.

It's been sitting in Olbury with DPD since Thursday and hasn't budged.

    There's a downside to using them :(

Coffee shop angle will be great, I wonder will that be self serve or will they lease it out? I do a lot of my spins up out the blessington road so if the hours match this would be lovely for a cuppa before and after :D

I reckon that Hollingsworth Kilmacud sell more high end bikes than css.
It may be a small premises but they have some ammount of stock. Aftersales is first class also. I'm a very happy customer.

they sell more high end bikes to people who KNOW bikes......
CSS sell more to people who have a BTW scheme + €1k theyve been talked into spending!!
when your starting out CSS is ideal...walk in - have a root about - pick up a few gels and a bottle- try on a jersey etc...
but as you progress i think most move away from it...
it becomes apparent after a while that its a machine that cares little for individuals or their individual needs...and more for volume
example? needed a few cable ends to finish a job- just spend €100 approx in CSS- asked to buy some...only option was a tub at a cost of €50!!
    wouldnt throw me a few...
remember id just spent €100! the mechanic followed me out and gave me a handful whilst shaking his head at the managements actions..
cant see either of the joes in hollingsworths being like that!!
LBS's offer much more in this regard but cant compete with stock levels in clothing or most sundries the way css do..
if your willing to wait theres nothing you LBS cant get for you..but most arent willing!they want it today and thats why the css thrives..

Have to say, I been a customer of Hollingsworth Kilmacud for over 15 years and am very happy with the service.
As for price, if you are a regular customer they will do there utmost to give you the best deal.
They cover everything from beginners bikes to the very high end bikes and probably carry more brands then CSS.

If that was a management issue thats not great at all. But to be fair you did say css doesn't care about the individual yet the mechanic chased you out with spares. I've shoped there a few times and the lads on the floor are all mostly racers of mtb or road and seem to know/ love their stuff, maybe your right and there is a management issue but wouldn't be saying that they don't care about the individual because of bad management decisions when most of the lads in there seem bang on and attentive (in my experience anyway).

    i take your point...
the lad in question went rogue to do that remember..
hes also since left the place....as have many other GOOD and knowledgeable people
your right..they cant all be tarred with the same brush...but management set the tone.
