    Hi

On closing the boot on a cMax yesterday (2013) the boot appear to get stuck halfway down but on examination the issue was the strut bent as you can seen in the image attached?

Should this happen? Ford said they won't cover it? No issues other than this with the car since we got it as a 1 year old.

Yes it's designed to collapse like that

No,, of course not but it's not a common issue and not a warranty issue so Ford won't cover it.
Tbh, I never seen it happen before. Did someone/something hit it?

I don't know what the cost of a new strut is but check ebay and the like.
    5 mins to swap.

No nothing hit it that we are aware off bar maybe something going in and out of the boot but that would only be bags and a buggy no heavy duty items :)

Will check out ebay for a replacement - it was easy to take off so fitting news ones should not be a problem! Didn't think it would be covered but its an unusual failure
