Currently a 2nd year HDip student in TCD and considering applying for this. I would be very eager to talk to someone who has some experience with the programme. I've talked to the administration and know various aspects of the requirements, but from experience I know there are often requirements not explicitly stated. Any body involved or know of people involved over the years?

Tbh, I'm not sure anyone has ever posted here whilst doing a college training doctorate. If I were in training I'd probably be keeping a low ish profile online as Ireland's a pretty small place. :P

You might have better luck talking to existing students in your department, though I appreciate they're busy and can be hard to track down. Do you have clinical and research experience?

I was decluttering at the weekend and found some old copies of the Irish Psychologist. Volume 37, issue 5 has an article 'A profile of entrants to Irish clinical training programmes' by Grace O' Shea and Michael Byrne who at the time of print (2011) were attached to the HSE. Might be worth reading.

Thanks for the response. You make a good point, I should try and get hold of the current students. Think this time of year would be difficult though. No clinical experience but I volunteer with Samaritans and have a Fetac in social care from yonks ago. Pretty sure the requirements for clinical and counselling programmes are quite different, for example most clinical programmes won't even look at your CV without 950 hours of work supervised by a qualified psychologist. That's not stipulated on their requirements.
