I know membership for the ivca is closed for this year so very little info on the site. What I was wondering was if you want to take part in the vets races and Ci races next season do you have to take out full membership for both ivca and Ci and if so is there any sort of discount

We will have to wait and see if any new proposals if any are brought forward at the respective AGMs but as it stands an ivc a lic will do for both with the exception of the irish champs, you will have to ride A3 in open races on your icva lic

Re discount they are both separate and different organisations so no discount indeed why should there be !

Reason I was asking about discount was because you would be paying the same insurance twice if you have both membership if you wanted to do the a4 racing

I'm confused. I've an A4 Licence at the moment but was thinking of getting an IVCA membership next year if they'll have me. What happens when I show up for an open race?

You have options of racing under either license if you have both. IVCA and you race A3, or CI and you race your current cat.

Have raced with IVCA under A3 a few times and although I've never had a problem, it is a bit of a hassle having to explain yourself to organisers, get temporary race numbers etc.

Re. discount for 2 licenses, what most folk do is take out full comp license with CI and avail of the option for IVCA membership only with no insurance, which is a little bit cheaper.

I have done this for this year. Think the IVCA licence was about 40 quid cheaper due to not having to pay the insurance part.

Really cannot see the IVCA opening up races to CI licence holders - they now have a limit of 60 per race (x 3 separate races), and are not fare off filling their quota each week in the 2 faster races
