Hot rads but no hot water?

    So here goes.....

Was away on holidays and did my normal thing of turning off mains into house (well) On my return I turn everything back on as normal and my heating wont heat the water for showers etc but it will for rad's. The heating is zoned into 3 areas.....rads downstairs...rads upstairs and water for showers etc. I've checked all the thermostats and they seem to be working, all motorized valves are working and there is hot water going into the tank from the heating line but no hot water coming out in the showers/taps. When i do put the burner on for the water it will start for a few minutes and cut off then back on again, off again etc.

First I thought it might be air locked but tried that and it hasn't worked, I find it strange that the copper pipe going into tank is hot from boiler but isn't heating coil? Emerson is working perfectly.

    Any thoughts ???

    Could be the pump

But its the same pump that the rads use and they seem to be heating up fine?

Had you an issues with Rads too? Its strange that the water is running into tank hot but not actually heating the water!

The pump circulates water from the boiler through rads and the worm inside the cylinder. The worm inside the cylinder keeps the water from the boiler/rads physically separate from the water inside the cylinder.
Your tank in the attic feeds cold water into the cylinder which is heated by the worm (just a coil of pipe). then the head pressure from your tank in the attic is pushing hot water to all your taps and shower.

If your getting hot water from your taps then the problem could be air lock or some obstruction/isolation valve thats stopping the hot water getting to your shower.
If your not getting hot water anywhere then the worm is not heating the cylinder.
If you turn on your hot tap and no water comes out then the cold water feed to your cylinder is blocked--air lock, valve closed, pipe blockage.
