    Hi,

I've applied for BTEA and I'm sure I will be accepted. If I move to Dublin to attend college for 4yrs, will I be eligible for rent supplement?

I have never rented before. Will I have to apply to Dublin City Council to be put on the waiting list for social housing before I can apply for rent supplement?

Will Dublin City Council accept my application while living in Cork?

    Thank you! :D

You have to be renting privately for 6 months and or assessed as having a housing need you'll struggle to find anywhere that's accepts rent supplement in Dublin at the moment.

    See below

As above, you need to be actually in your residence in Dublin for six months before applying for rent suppliment and then have to provide some documentation and evidence showing your lack of means to pay for the accomodation you are in.

They can also look to move you from that location, if they feel you are renting way beyond your means.

Social housing waiting list is years long in Dublin, and a single male/female wouldn't have a chance for anything within six years I'd guess.

Was actually going to be all aggressive at your post until I saw you wrote BTEA, thought you were another student scrounger!

Have a chat with your local council regarding grants and stuff. If you qualified for BTEA and the course is in Dublin, there might be some assistance available through funds or grant schemes to get you started, but youd probably be looking at sourcing part time work throughout the four years.
