Hey looking for some advice for a girls weekend away end of November, would love a nice mix of Christmas markets and also some spas or something like that.. I've heard the outdoor baths in Budapest are good would there be a good choice? Or somewhere nice in Germany? A winter wonderland feel would be fab. We've all been to Berlin already so apart from there we're happy to go anywhere. Thanks :)

I would vote for Budapest. I was there the last weekend in November and it felt like Christmas. It's easy to get around. The food is great and the day spent at the outdoor baths is so worth it. We stayed here https://booking.boscolohotels.com/MOBILE/en/select_date.html?step=substep2

It was a wonderful hotel and would be lovely for a girlie weekend.

Munich is a beautiful city to visit. I wasn't there in Christmas but I heard the Christmas markets are excellent, although the original (and best apparently) Christmas markets are in Nuremberg.

Another vote for Budapest. Myself and my sisters went there last Oct and really enjoyed it. The baths are lovely. We were planning just to spend 2 or 3 hours in there and ended up spending the whole day. Also, they run bath parties at night time. We didn't do it but it looked cool and something different. Just another note, some hotels have great deals for spa treatments. Reasonably cheap, very easy to get around and a beautiful city.

actually.... the Munich Christmas Market (the main one, which now is only one of many) dates back to 1310 whereas Nürnberg is only from about 300 years later.

interesting to see that the Budapest, Bratislava and other markets mentioned here are only in existance since the late 1990s, so they may be nice, but they are only as authentic as anything you'd see in Dublin or Belfast.

Ah, I must have been misinformed. ;)

Nurnberg mightn't be the oldest but is the biggest one though.

the one negative about the Christmas markets is that there's little to be had in bargains for hotels, and city centre hotels can be damn expensive especially at the weekend.
Stay a little out of the city centre beside an underground line and you'll do ok though.

Slovenia could also be a good spot in November
