Hi All, flying to San Francisco/San Diego in two weeks time and am lucky to be able to travel business class for the long trip. Whats the experience of recent travellers on the new upgraded business class section, hoping I can get a good long sleep on the new sleeper seats :D

Theres a good report on http://travelskills.com/2015/03/25/trip-report-aer-lingus-new-business-class/

Flew it a few weeks back. Was happy enough with it. Nothing too special but definitely an improvement. Bit slow with the food service and the crew do seem to disappear during the flight but its a nice experience.

Apparently they have introduced a new menu since that review took place. The seats were installed before the Summer schedule.
The new menu started in May or June. Haven't seen what is on it however. Am sure its not a big change from what went before.

I've been told by a mate that this is due to the 2 crew having to set up all the food/trays in the galley. So meal service is slower than it should be.
He says that it results in 1 crew member preparing the food in the galley while the other has to serve and top up drinks for the J Class pax (up to 30 on the -300's)
EI used to have 3 crew in J Class up until 2011. I remember that they would have 1 in the galley the whole flight just setting up and the other 2 in the cabin the whole time.

I flew it twice last month. I have flown BA business class in the past so that would be my comparison.

I found the EI product to be very good. The seats are excellent and offer nice touches such as the massager etc.

I can't remember how many crew staffed business but it was more than 2.

I had no complaints about the food or the service. You have a call bell if you need it or take a stroll to the galley. I've always found crew to be friendly and chatty.

The lie flat bed is great and is better than BA's seat in business.

The IFE is a bigger screen and is very responsive.

    Wifi is free in business

The choice of movies is always limited though. Wish EI would address this especially for us frequent flyers!
