Hi guys...probably a silly question...my fiancée is from the North and my priest told us that he has to go up to his priest to complete his paperwork - I know he has to get his letter of freedom but does he also have to do a pre-nuptial enquiry form too? I always thought that it was just one form that we both had to complete...

I don't think he'll have to fill out a pre nuptial enquiry with his priest. Isn't that just needed in the church you intend to marry in?
I wonder does he mean to get baptismal & confirmation certs?
If so, I'm sure a phone call to his parish office would so the job...

You complete the Pre-nuptial form with the priest in the Parish where you are living NOW. the only exception to this is where a family member/friend is doing the Ceremony and offers to do the papers as well. One form is completed for each person.
It's a about a six page form - asks questions like when did you meet, do you have any children. the purpose is to make sure that you are both going into the marriage freely, and knowing what you need to know about the other person.

When you go to see the priest you need:
Baptismal Cert (dated within the last six months)
Confirmation Cert (dated within the last six months)
Letter of Freedom (dated within the last six months)
    Certificate from Pre-marriage course
MRF - the Green folder you got from the HSE

Altogether, the documents are commonly called "papers".

    Hope this helps :-)

Nope it's one pre nuptual form each so you do one and your OH does one too. Same happened to me. We got married in Cork and my priest said himself had to do his pre-nup up in his home county with his parish priest, defo an unexpected spanner in the works !!!

Defs unexpected spanner!! That's gas because my OH has been told by the Parish secretary from his hometown that they won't do his pre-nuptial enquiry form because he hasn't lived there for a few years so he has to get it done in Dublin (where we are living) whereas my priest is going to do mine for me even though I don't live in that parish anymore.

OH just lied and said he still lives in Dubs to get his home priest to do it. We don't even live in Ireland :p
