    Hi all

Ive had the Rural broadband scheme from 3 for the last number of years. 40gb @ €20.32 a month.

That is coming to an end now and their offering me 15gb for €24.99 (less gb's for more €'s!)

    I usually use 20gb a month.
I'm with Vodafone Phone wise (Bill pay)

Anyone have any good deals out there for me please, thanks. Would be used mostly around Tralee/Killarney

Do you need Mobile midband access because you are on the move or are you you looking for something at your house/business premises?

If your on the move, then I suggest checking all of the midband providers websites for their current offers.

If you are at a fixed location, then the best suggestion is see if you can get proper broadband over a phone line.

If that fails, then go to this map and drop the marker on your location and tick the Wireless ISPs option. This will show you all of the Fixed Wireless operators providing service in your area. Get on each of them to find out if they can hit your house with a signal. This may need a physical visit for a survey, but this shouldn't cost you anything.

I am mostly in Tralee, but sometimes need it on the move too so Mobile I probably need. On that Map, theirs a "dot" coming up for the 3 Ireland mast in the same location as say Meteor aswell. Does that mean the Meteor signal should be as good as 3 Ireland?

If you want to find what services are on the masts, then use this comreg map which will show you what each one provides.

However there's no way to be certain how good a signal will be from these masts at any given location as it depends on what way the sector of the mast is pointing (it might be 10 meters away from you, but it could be looking the other way), as well as anything that might cause interference (like walls). Also much more important is how many people you may be sharing the sector on that mast with, as the bandwidth will be divided between you all.

Call into a meteor store and see if you can get a dongle on trial (you probably need to actually sign-up). If the signal and speeds are great, then off you go. Otherwise bring it back within 2 weeks (now check this for certain first) and cancel the contract.
