This seems to be a good thing for Skoda, fantastic coverage with le tour on TV for hours during the Tour de France,

Anyone know how long they are involved in cycling?

And how do Skoda keep the other brands out of it?

And how do Skoda keep the other brands out of it?

They probably take their cue from the Olympics and specifically what happened in Atlanta in 1996 when Pepsi splashed billboard ads all over the city during the Olympic Games to p1ss off Coca-Cola who were an official sponsor and who's headquarters is in Atlanta.

So nowadays any city bidding for the Olympics has to guarantee that there will be no 'ambush marketing' because they will enforce controls on billboards and advertising in public places and the like. I expect the Tour de France enforces similar rules so that they will not pass through a town that doesn't sign up to the official rules concerning sponsorship and advertising.

Skoda have been supplying cars to the Tour de France since 2004, as regards Skoda and cycling... the founders of the company Laurin and Klement, like so many car manufacturers before them, began by making bicycles in 1895.

They're the official vehicles for the tour, but not for the teams. As someone pointed out Sky use Jaguar and a few teams use Renault Megane estates as the team cars.

Although the jag above was a one off for a time trial a year or two ago.

Its not just the professional ranks that Skoda are involved - One of Irelands top domestic teams UCD Cycling Club, is supplied with an Octavia Combi thanks to Spirit Skoda

Pretty sure skoda is heavily involved in a lot of Irish cycling events.

Skoda dealers sell bikes too AFAIK, or at least they did a few years back.

Teams use pretty much everything, so far I've noted the below on this Tour and I'm sure it's by no means comprehensive

    Skoda
    Merc
    BMW
    Citroen
    Jag
    Volvo
    VW (med cars)
