    Hi all,

I know that Revenue are not currently recruiting but just so I don't miss out when they do I am looking to set up a Job Alert on Public Jobs but can't find the categories to file it under for Revenue Commissioners/Customs.

    Can anyone help me please?

    Thanks in advance!

Revenue recruit internally for customs. I think you have be in Revenue a year or so before you can apply for another department. Im not sure if people in the public service but not revenue can apply. Maybe someone else can answer that.

So you need keep an eye out for Clerical Officer or Executive Officer jobs in Revenue, but once your in you could get assigned anywhere in the organisation. Sometimes there not advertised on but on the careers page on revenue.ie

Customs (enforcement) position are only advertised internally in Revenue. You would have to be in in for at least one year. Entry is via a competency based interview

Thanks for your advice. Do Revenue recruit through their own website or on Public Jobs website?

Depends on the level. Sometimes they look for specialist graduates. Otherwise they probably take in people from the general competitions.

So if I'm setting up a job alert on PublicJobs what is the Job Category and subcategory I choose?

Can't find anything specifically relating to it.

Entry levels to customs are clerical officer or executive officer level - so basically you have to be recruited into Revenue via Public Jobs or get a transfer from another department

    Administrative and Graduate.

You'll be in for all the general jobs and some of the specifics.

If you make it through all the steps of the general competitions, you're not guaranteed to get revenue.

I don't know if asking them for a specific job like that would raise or lower your chances.

I could be wrong but I nearly sure I saw an clerical officer competition advertised a few years ago for Revenue on their own site.

Not sure about the graduate entry - these tend to be are AO upwards (with the exception of very specific EO grades)

All of which can be in revenue.

Missed this post. Yeah I do remember some specifically being on revenues own site. No harm keeping an eye on it.

Thanks for the advice folks. Would there be any things I could be taking part in (academic or voluntary) to improve my chances of getting into a revenue/Customs job?
