Utterly defeated by trigger shifters

    Trying to refit a set of Shimano Shimano STF 541L trigger shifters.

    They seem to require removing the plastic top cover to get at the cable nipple but nothing I try seems to budge three of the four retaining screws.

    Have squired a bit of WD40 inside to try and unstick the mechanism but I'm starting to worry about wearing away the cross in the tops of the screws.

    Does anyone have any experience of this? Youtube seems to completely skip this sort of shifter, other models let the nipple escape from the under cover or a port with a grub screw on the side.

    Not sure I'm fully visualizing the problem here..but am certain the solution is a new bike.

    Already have the new bike in the other room. It looks beautiful, but I still can't fix these trigger shifters

    In the end the answer was I need a better screwdriver.
