Advice on allergies.

Im not looking for medical advice, just a bit of general advice on allergies.

I had my seven month daughter tested for allergies as she suffered eczema and it wasn't clearing with the weekly administration of steroids so I thought maybe it was food related so went to an allergy clinic to get her tested.

I don't know anything about allergies but have since read that in order for a reaction to something to occur it has to be the second exposure to whatever it is. Is this correct? She reacted positively to egg but had been eating egg with no physical signs of being allergic. She didn't react to peanut but when I gave her peanut butter she went into anaphylaxis so I'm just wondering how reliable the rest of the results would be.

It was a skin prick test which I'm told is over 70% accurate and is the best way to test for allergies.

I haven't a notion about allergies so just looking for general advice and wondering how exactly they work. Thanks.
