I am buying a house in limerick that is a 3 bed semi d with garage attached.
I am hoping to put a door into the garage inside the front door at the end of the stairs.
There is a gap of 900mm between the end of the stairs and the wall on which the front door is. Are there any regulations as to a minimum space you need in order to break through the wall and put a door there into the garage?

    Appreciate any feedback guys

TGD Part K : 400mm for the stairs step.
TGD Part B : The door must be a 30 minute Fire Door Set.

On a personal note I'd ensure there is smoke detection in the garage also.

If the door is opening away from the stairs?

The plan is for the door to open away from the stairs into the garage.
I am hoping to put washer and drier in the garage and have an internal door so i wouldn't need to go outside to access the garage. Possibly remove garage door and replace with a window too as most of the houses in the area have converted their garage to an extra room.
(I would have the window from a planned conversion of the dining room window to patio door.)

Does the gap have to be 400mm if the door is opening into the garage and away from the stairs?

    Less strict.
The 400mm is worse case of the door opens onto a landing or pathway of the stairs. If it opens into the garage, then you could probably reduce the dimension.
