Determining the size of alloys for VW Golf

    I have 3 doors Volkswagon Golf FSI S (2007). I have decided to upgrade it to alloy wheels. One of the websites gave me below specification for alloy wheels.

    Tires for Volkswagen Golf 2007

    • Diameters: 15'' - 19''
    • Width (mm): 195 - 225
    • Tire aspect ratio (%): 35 - 65
    • Smallest tire size: 195/65 R15
    • Largest tire size: 225/35 R19
    Rims for Volkswagen Golf 2007

    • Bolt pattern 5x112
      • Diameter: 15'' - 19'';
      • Width (inches): 6 - 8;
      • Offset (mm): 35 - 47.

    I want to go for the biggest possible size. Would 19" be good to go or any cons of it?

    I'd start by looking at what style of wheel you want and then you can consider size etc. Plenty of sites that will show you wheels that should at least be close in terms of fitment. I used these guys before:

    https://www.performancealloys.com/

    That site is just an example, they may not be the best given the exchange rates with sterling at the moment.

    Budget needed too, as big tacky wheels might be relatively cheap but smaller nicer wheels more expensive etc

    Just don't put alphards on it :(

    Try felgenoutlet.com, much cheaper than any UK based site.

    19s will have a harder ride, be a very expensive tyre, alloy more likely to buckle from pothole/kerb, car would probably need lowered suspension too or else it'll look like a jeep.

    Basic cars with massive wheels look a bit silly too.

    18 inch should be plenty on a golf.
    19 inch wheels with tiny brake discs look silly plus it would drive like a pig.

    Have a read of this thread from another forum:

    Just my own opinion but the 19" rims look just too big for the Golf.

    Use http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-size-calculator/ to see which tire size will suit each wheel and it'll tell you what size error if any that choice will bring to your speedo.

    Thank you but in that site the drop-down menu doesn't contain Golf model of VW.

    These 17" from GT Sport are one of nicest wheels for MK5.
