Every so often a human illness achieves great success and goes viral like some kind of ... virus.
I have been trolled by one such virus lately. Symptoms include hangover head, and random muscle pain. Sore throat is main symptom.

There have been reports that this virus is doing the rounds.

Anyone else had this dose ?

Not just viruses...ADHD was all the rage amongst all parents incapable of disciplining their kids a few years ago.

There's also a lot of people claiming they're dyslexic lately when they're actually just thick as two short planks.

    Celiac

I does a disservice to people who actually are celiac.

"intolerance to gluten" Know this 1st hand saw people I know eat pizza no problem and guzzle down beers without a bother. All of a sudden gluten is bad for them. Their skin is better and they have more energy. I usually find these are the people who have other pseudo bullcrap beliefs like detoxing by drinking a shake? Yeah excuse the 1000's of complicated processes that occur in the human body by itself to detox but no a disgusting green shake will do the job instead.

Illnesses being caused by vaccinations. The height of 1st world privilege to believe such non based hear say evidence (Of course there is the odd adverse reaction) Please tell that to an African child who is dying of a very real a curable disease that could be sorted out by just a simple vaccine. Your stupidity knows no bounds.

Was that just a lack of discipline? I thought their was a social welfare payment for people who had a child with ADHD, or is that an urban legend?:D

The whole "everyone is gluten intolerant" thing has actually has some pretty good side effects for genuine celiac's. The range of gluten free stuff available in most supermarkets and restaurants has never been higher.

When I was a kid nobody was allergic to nuts.
Guess why? Cos everyone ate nuts and got on with it!

I like how OP was about a particular illness that they suffered and all the replies were stock AH "There were nothing wrong with gluten when I were a lad" and "people with ADHD get free socks".

Take no chances with illnesses. At the first sign of weakness cut off the head and burn the body. It could be hay fever, it could be zombies, don't risk it.

Actually, so many people have started identifying with gluten sensitivity and switching to gluten-free foods, that a new clinical "syndrome", Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) has been identified.

The Doctor who came up this condition Lewis Eisenberg reckoned that vast numbers of children were being incorrectly diagnosed with ADHD. For eg at one stage 10% of children in the USA were being treated with stimulant drugs.

A teacher in secondary school used to say I was dyslexic (for those expecting a joke now, sadly there isn't one)....just because I would mix up letters or numbers in the middle of word or number.

Turns out I'm probably just normal and who here hasn't written down a number wrong once or twice when it was being called out.

My brother is allergic to nuts (and fish). That didn't stop my mother and sister munching away on the peanuts and cashew nuts when I was growing up. He's still alive. Admittedly he's spent probably more time than is healthy covered in rashes and having difficulty breathing, but hey that's my brother for you! He's a lot better the last twenty years now he has his own gaff and an understanding wife!

I too am well aware of that but the AH experts dont seem aware it is.

Just because some people lie that they have a particular condition, doesn't mean the condition doesn't exist.

Do a lot of these people really exist? Never encountered even one of them myself.

Apparently there are more allergies these days, supposedly because of the higher and higher hygiene standards amongst the general population. So yeah maybe it's trendy to say that you have an allergy to something or maybe just more people do than did previously.

Tbh it seems it's more trendy now to not believe someone has a condition or allergy, rather than trendy to say you have one.

    This. Times a billion.

It always annoys me when I see parents bleaching things, essentially bubble wrapping their children, or not allowing them to get dirty. Having a high level of hygiene is all well and good, but there's a reason that things like hay fever are all but unheard of from people growing up on farms.

It also bothers me when people think they can say that such a condition doesn't exist, when they have no training in the area, probably don't know any one with those conditions, or have no experience with it whatsoever.

ADHD, especially. Yes, sometimes people are diagnosed when they could just be rowdy, but it doesn't mean that they all are.
