Similar to Borris House or Mount Druid?

Was at 2 brilliant weddings last year in the above (Borris House and Mount Druid for those looking on your phones) and loved the casual vibe of both.

Having got engaged at the weekend I'm now looking for venues for 2016, a bit late to the party I know. Borris House is full for weekends next summer (unsurprisingly) and my wife to be wasn't mad about the food in Mount Druid but really liked the vibe.

So we're looking at places similar to these if people have any suggestions. We'd like to do the ceremony on site too (it will be a civil/humanist ceremony) I've had a look online having searched through a good few pages here, Inishbeg looks similar but it's just too far away really.

We're looking for Leinster really as most of our friends and us are in Dublin, but Galway and thereabouts could work too (her family lives there).

So any suggestions at all would be gratefully received, I thought we were going for a small wedding but when we did the numbers we were at 120 without even thinking about it.

Off the top of my head you could look at Darver Castle or Cabra Castle if thats the type of place you are looking for.

I love Mount Druid when we viewed but didn't seem practical and a bit over priced.
In the end went for The Station House, was so chilled out and nice to wander about. Great staff and food. Had ceremony on site so added to the chill factor for the day.

Thats where mine is next year :D Its fab!
Borris House or Mount Druid don't look much like 'chill' places TBH

Can't you bring your own caterer's to Mt Druid?

I would say similar venues are maybe Roundwood hse in Laois,, Lisnavagah in Carlow (we had our reception here), Trudder house in wicklow and glebe hse and millhouse near slane. Oh and Glendalough hse in Wicklow is pretty different too.

Didn't know that about Mount Druid, will check. Thanks for the other options too.

We got married in Borris House (because of the chilled vibe you describe - although it takes a lot of work, but the end result is chilled). We were also very close to booking Cloughjordan, which has a very similar vibe.
Lisnavagh, I have heard, is the same type of space too!

    Good luck planning!

Look up the 100 best venue guide from one fab day. It's full of that exact type venue. They have more on the site too. You can not bring your own caterers to mount Druid. That's what put us off. Powerscourt house is great In Wicklow or I'd second Cloughjordan house

I was at a wedding last year in Mount Druid and it was one the best I was ever at.

The couple had a pig on a spit and as far as I am aware, they had their own caterers in for the wedding, I could be wrong on that though.

Is hiring caterers an option for you?

Had a look at Cloughjordan and Kilshane House yesterday, both fantastic for different reasons. Still looking but both of those serious contenders.
