Could sitting in coach get even worse?

Zodiac Seats, the largest manufacturer of airplane seats in the world, has decided to remove any dignity left for people flying in coach with their new design: “Economy Class Cabin Hexagon”.

It consists of aisles of alternating forward and rear facing seats. So now instead of being able to seal yourself off in a laptop or iPod, you are forced to face 2 other people. You must stare into their eyes.
F*CK THAT. I’M TAKING THE TRAIN FROM NOW ON.

    F-that indeed.

just because someone invents or patents something ridiculous doesn't mean it's going to be approved by authorities or purchased by customers. Remember the noise that was made by stand-up seats number of years ago? Well? Where are they?

You can only push the pax so far, and the braking point has already been reached and we see the likes of premium economy doing pretty well. No one likes to be squished and people DO want to pay more for comfort

Every so often you see things like this appearing showing how operators might be able to squeeze more punters onboard by removing galleys and lavs and radical new (stand up) seat designs which will enable them to fit more seats and hence more passengers.
The certification and limitations of an aircraft and the number of passengers it can carry has actually very little to do with the number of seats installed, it's more to do with the number of exits and MTOW and even the number of FAs. Even if you came up with a design of seat (or stand) that you could fit four hundred people on a B737 for example, it doesn't mean you'd be allowed to put four hundred people on board that B737 without Boeing or some other outfit coming up with an STC to cut extra doors and exits, and even if you could the increased load would leave you with an effective range of half of what it's currently at.
These things are just fantasy, even if it were physically possible to do this, no operator would seriously consider doing it, the punters wouldn't put up with it....

Will never happen, too much weight, would take too long to board ( longer turnarounds means lower utilisation and less efficiency) and most importantly from a safety point, this layout would never be approved for aircraft evacuation purposes, which requires an evacuation to be completed in 90 seconds using half the available exits

Troops carry more luggage and gear that the average civi punter:D

Most military transport have the seating facing to the rear for increased safety or along the side if carrying cargo.
