I heard this today on the news. Have our Senators nothing more to be concerned about than the non wearing of motorbike helmets by Greek politicians wives?

If this is what we get for our money, we should have gotten rid of them when we had the chance.

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/reckless-in-the-extreme-senator-complains-about-varoufakis-wife-riding-motorbike-without-helmet-31362360.html

    Taken from the article........

As Greece teeters on the brink, a Fine Gael senator has rounded on outgoing finance minister Yanis Varoufakis for his ‘reckless’ behaviour in allowing his wife to ride on the back of his motorbike without a helmet.

Senator Cáit Keane voiced her unhappiness yesterday as Mr Varoufakis officially quit following Greece’s rejection of austerity demands from its European creditors.
“Obviously, responsibilities come with everything – I imagine everyone will agree,” she began.

“[And] one thing I would say to Yanis Varoufakis, looking at his motorbike and his wife on the back of it today, without a helmet, is that it is reckless in the extreme, not alone on economic policy but in respect of his wife’s health as well.

As Eurozone finance ministers scramble to deal with the fallout of Greece’s rejection of their bailout terms, a number of senators asked Ms Keane to “get a little perspective” following her remarks.

Independent senator David Norris was among those who took umbrage at Ms Keane’s comment, saying they were “utter rubbishy politically-correct twaddle.”
However, Ms Keane insisted she was making an important point about leading by example.

She said: “I should be blaming the wife? He should carry a helmet for [her] in his boot.”

Well he was in favour of the ancient Greek tradition of older men breaking in young men and showing them the ways of the world i.e. getting their hands on fresh young meat

If someone was to spot Michael Noonan whizzing around Stephen's Green on his scooter, then the Online Outrage Brigade who camp out here and on sites like the Journal would be frothing at the mouth.
