Arrested for Charging?

I got a call earlier from the Garda who I was dealing with about an assault a few months ago. He told me that I was getting charged with Section 3 Assault and that I had to come to the station as I had to be arrested and charged. I was a bit shocked as was hoping nothing would come of it but I said I would go down this evening to get it over with.

I know I need to get a solicitor now I am getting charged. Should I get one before going to the station to be charged or would it make a difference?

I don't really want to ring back and mess him around as he was pretty sound. Is this type of thing just in and out at the Garda station or could I be kept in and have to go to court or something?

It's quite a serious issue and you should speak to a solicitor before you attend the station to be charged. Realistically, you should have spoken to a solicitor before giving an interview/statement. There isn't really much else we can tell you here due to the forum charter and site rules.

    Speak to a solicitor asap.
