    Im looking for some advice or tips, I have just booked flights for me and the OH as part of her birthday present. We are going in Mid September - I am now looking at hotels - I am not familiar with Prague at all. What areas should I be looking to be close to when booking the hotel.

    Any other do's and dont's about Prague?

    It is a big birthday for the OH so I want to make it as memorable as possible.

    Go for dinner on one of the boat restaurants on the river one night and then take her on a night time tour flight on another night. Also, an apartment on AirBnb might be better than a hotel.

    Prague's an unbelievable city for couples and groups, but especially groups because a lot of the activities have a minimum number of people required. If you're into guns you could go shooting there as a treat to yourself since, if you do what I suggested above, you'll have already made it memorable for her.

    Thanks for this, its very helpful and gives me some ideas. I will look in to Airbnb - I have not used it before, but have looked at it, the prices are around the same price as a hotel - but some of the places are lovely.

    We stayed in the Mala Strana area (Appia Residences) of Prague in May. Having explored this beautiful city on foot, our group kept remarking on the beauty of this area in Prague over the others visited.

    A couple of restaurant recommendations;

    Kampa Park - Riverside dining. Nice place. Reasonably priced for the quality of food. Views of the Charles Bridge. She'll love it.

    Nostress Cafe - Nice place, good food. Kind of a a gastro pub.

    Also, try Cafe Savoy. It’s got a nice traditional Czech menu. Worth a visit;

    We stayed in Jurys Inn in Prague. Excellent location. Metro station across the road and easy access to and from the airport. We also used the trams to get to Prague Castle which is on a hill and walked back over the historic bridges and though the main square. Absolutely a lovely city. Enjoy.

    Use ATMs or bring the correct currency. Avoid Bureaus at all cost. You won't need a sub way ticket as it's such a small city you can walk everywhere. Try the local cuisine it's very nice.

    Not to take over this thread but am also flying to Prague shortly and was wondering about what currency to use.. Will shops there accept euro or would I need to change over?
    Thanks in advance!

    The currency in Prague is the Czech Crown. Just bring your Visa or Maestro Debit Card and get the local currency from the ATMs.

    Gave a quick search on the forum rather than open a new thread & stumbled upon this

    Had just assumed Prague was in the Eurozone! :eek:

    I'm looking to get flights in late October & stay in an AirBnB, just wondering if there's any activities or tours / places to see that any would recommend? Additionally if anybody has information on the airport Ryanair fly into? I know they do transfers by bus etc. but wondering how far out it is, can public transport get us there etc.

    Would appreciate any info! TIA
