1st correspondence from Irish Water received today; yet I'm ineligible for grant

I live in rented accommodation and received my first bill and first correspondence from Irish Water today the 7th of July.

It says to be eligible to claim the €100 grant I must have registered with Irish Water by the 30th of June.

I now know that Information about the grant was first published in November 2014 but today the 7th of July was the first day I seriously read any information related to Irish Water because it is the first day that I physically received correspondence from Irish Water through the letter box.

    1st question
Today was the 1st day I received correspondence from Irish Water in the post, yet I am too late to apply for the grant. Is there anything I can do about this?

    2nd Question.
The Helpful Information Booklet I received in the post says "It takes approximately 8 weeks to issue bills to all customers".
I received my bill for 01/01/2015 to 31/03/2015 today 14 WEEKS after the bill was created.  There was a bundle of other letters in my apartment block indicating that I am not the only one. As I received the bill (MY FIRST CORRESPONDENCE FROM IRISH WATER) 6 weeks late (and this bill contained the information booklet which alerted me to register for the grant by the 30th of June) is there anything that can be done about my predicament or am I resigned to being ineligible for the €100 grant?

    Hi Veldt,

    Thanks for contacting Irish Water.

As you did not register your details with us before June 30th 2015, you will not be eligible to apply for this year's grant. However, as the grant is multi-annual and will be paid yearly until 2018, you will be eligible to apply for future grant payments once registered.

The grant is administered and paid by the Dept. of Social Protection. You can read more about the grant itself by clicking here.

We hope that you find this information useful. If there is anything else that we can help you with, please don't hesitate to let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Amy.
