Galway to Athy train

Hi all, I'm hoping to travel from Galway to Athy via train early Thursday morning, preferably leaving Galway at 7.30. Can anyone give me a heads up as to the most cost-effective way of doing this? Apologies for what may be extreme naivety, but I understand that it can't be done as simply as purchasing a GALWAY-ATHY ticket from the machine at the station and making the relevant connections, most likely either at Kildare/Dublin/Portarlington myself, and that I'll probably have to buy separate tickets for each leg of the journey? I'm a student which is probably worth taking into consideration when pricing.

    Thanks. :)

If you have student ID (college ID only)
    Galway-Dublin - 23 euro
    Dublin-Athy - 15.80

Journey planner states Dublin only connection for the 07.30 so that will cost around 5 more

Open return fares. Singles are only a few euro cheaper.

Might be an idea to call them tomorrow to double check the fare as I think the 23 return should be valid for the full journey.

You can buy a ticket at the station for the full journey...

OP - simple solution as suggested above - ring Galway Station tomorrow and ask how much a student ticket from Galway to Athy is and compare with the online prices.
