What's this car worth?

Have a tidy little golf here. 1.4 petrol, 98 with only 50k Miles on it.
Drives really well apart from a couple normal wears in the suspension, which I'm having fixed at the moment.

The car is mechanically perfect, but the exterior is pretty bad.
Paint is faded and lacquer has come off on a few panels including bonnet and roof, one mirror is a diff color etc...

This would be a great starter car I think, but I've no idea how much it should be worth... Other cars of a similar age and spec have stupid mileage etc.

Sorry I've no pics atm but anyone hazard a guess at what it's worth?
Can't tell if it's a better investment to sell the thing or break it!

    What nct has it?

With no nct put it up at 500 and take what you get.

With the poor paintwork I'd doubt it worth any more than €1000 if it has a full NCT.

EDIT: Just looking on Donedeal and 1998/9 Golfs with NCT and even some with tax with mileage of around 110k-135k with good bodywork and interior are anywhere from 795-1100.

Your low mileage will be offset by the poor paintwork. You could advertise for 1000 but I'd be prepared to take less than that.

No NCT at the minute but will have one done if selling. The thing will sail through...

Thing is these cars are ten a penny, even with the low mileage I don't think it has a high value. If the bodywork looks poor it's got even less of a value as it would be hard to convince someone it's worth a premium with the mileage.

    Exactly.

With an nct put it at 800. They are making nothing this weather.
Weigh up if you need to put too much into it to warrant the nct work.

Insurance can be heavy on a 1.9 diesel though, a 1.4 petrol will still appeal to a first-time young 'un.

Yeah but a 1.4 doesn't coo or have the street cred of a TeaDeaI.

I would put it at €995 or something that's just under a grand. Someone will buy it for the engine alone.
