Do you lot nap or wha'?

I do, all the time. I don't know what I'd do without a nap sometimes. I tend to get very cranky when I'm tired. Cranky Christy is not very nice. :( I had a nap at lunchtime to get me through the rest of the day. I generally limit my napping to 30 minutes as I like feeling refreshed and I think if you overnap, you nearly feel worse than before you decided to nap.

    Any nappers in the house?

Never could; I either fall asleep and sleep for the usualy 6-9 hours or else just wake up feeling much worse than before.

Rarely have them. I feel terrible after naps. Really groggy.

I used to be a great woman for a disco nap.

I still enjoy a snooze on the couch after a good weekend

Never. Always find a nap makes me even groggier.

Sleeping during the day is horrible anyway, used to do it working night shifts years ago.

I used to take naps all the time a few years ago. I don't know why but I just stopped doing it. Probably because I used to nap for 1-2 hours and wake up more tired than before.

    Blasphemy!

If you're feeling groggy post nap, you are more than likely napping for too long. A nap should never be longer than 30 minutes. I always set an alarm.

I had a nap at lunchtime to get me through the rest of the day.

I had a nice bit of fish with rice, and a Twix.

I wake up very confused after a nap.
I can then never get asleep that night.

I'm a big napper at the weekends, during the week not as much as I'd like.

Hate sleeping during the day. It takes me ages to wake up properly and if I think of something I did earlier that day, it feels weird, like it wasn't today or it wasn't yesterday.

I work better with naps. I find it incredibly difficult to get to sleep. So when possible it's nice to take a quick 20 minutes power nap. Rarely happens. But that's life.

I quite like 30 minutes of "eye rest", not sure if it really counts as a nap.

Yes I do like a nap every now and then. Only weekend naps though, couldn't during the week, it'd mess with my sleeping too much.

I do face the issue of alarms / nap lengths though, as you can never really know when you'll actually drift off.

Is it not sleepy dreamy nighty snoozey snooze though? Myself and my boyfriend have a blanket, a good nap blanket as it happens, that we have christened sleepy dreamy nighty snoozey snooze, or sleepy dreamy for short. So you see my concern at the title of this thread.

Four hours is a good night's sleep for me and if I took a nap I'd probably never sleep. So it's not worth the risk.

For me, waking up from a nap is like waking up from a hangover.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 702 ✭✭✭Xaracatz

I reckon short naps are good. I'd go for ten minutes' sleep in the shower room in my last job if I couldn't keep my eyes open, and I did feel better afterwards.

Napping in the daytime during the weekend though makes me feel worse. Probably napping too long, but can't resist hitting that snooze button.

I think that, once you fall into a deeper sleep, your body gives you the two fingers for waking up again too early. Post nap grogginess is shit.

I function fine thankfully, but I'd loved to be able to sleep for 9 hours. I probably haven't slept for that long since I was a kid.:(

Hate sleeping during the day so never nap, wake up feeling like crap. Only time I might nod off is a Sunday afternoon after a heavy nights drinking where I might drift in and out of sleep in front of the tv.

It takes me ages to get to sleep and then I'm seriously fcuking asleep. I've slept through someone having a psychotic episode in the same room as me. So if I wanted to have a half hour nap, it'd take at least an hour.

Also I have terrible will power when it comes to getting out of bed, total lizard brain. Alarm goes off after a nap and it's just "hahaha bollocks to that, I'll get up in another four hours maybe, don't care, zzzzzzzz"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 265 ✭✭NOS3

I haven't had a nap in ages, probably because I haven't needed to. That will probably change when I go back to school. I'll try and develop a normal sleep schedule by then. :P

    Sleeping during work?

I barely get breaks never mind a sleep ha.

Only time I'd take nap is if was at home and was wrecked from not getting enough sleep night before. Few mins seems to work anything to long and you feel worse.

I took a 30 minute nap on my lunch break. We get an hours lunch break. I didn't sleep during work. Sometimes I go for walks, sometimes I go for naps. I have 60 minutes to do what I want.

No. They make me feel worse. And I always end up with a hangover type headache when I wake up.

I have always wished I was able to nap, very jealous of people that wake up feeling refreshed after them!

Well maybe you wouldn't be so snappy if you DID take a nap during work!

Nothing jaundices one's view of a person more than fatigue-induced snappiness!

You obviously don't have any Chinese people in your office, it's common to see more than one asleep at a time at their desk at any random time of the day.

I love a nap but there is no way I could control the duration as well as others do. It takes me over 30 mins to get to sleep at all. I work shifts, so if I wake early I might have an afternoon nap before getting ready for work. I will have a glass of water and my bladder usually wakes me after 2-2.5 hours.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,391 ✭✭✭fro9etb8j5qsl2

Jaysus I love a good nap. I never really understood why people napped til I got a job that started at 6am. Then it was either nap or go to bed at 8 every evening. I developed the ability to sleep anywhere. I would often pull up home in the car after work and some auld bint would be shíting away to joe duffy on the radio so I'd just close my eyes to listen for a minute and wake up to derek fúckin mooney and the car engine still running

My love affair with naps has sadly dwindled since the arrival of the childers, nowadays a nap to me is getting 30 seconds peace on the bog before someone starts screaming :(

Used to be a serial sleeper. Two hour naps most days, sleep all night. Now I drink so much coffee I can practically see noises and am wide eyed most of the night, watching copious amounts of Netflix. There's a lot to be said for medication and or wine before bed. I would love to be able to sleep more than a few hours.
