    Hi

We are considering returning to Ireland, My wife, me and 3 kids immigrated to Australia nearly 3 years ago.
If we return we will have little or no funds to support ourselves beyond a few weeks, we will have no jobs to go to either, we also have a house in Ireland with a mortgage on it, it is currently rented but we would loose this as we intend to live in the house when we return.
What are we entitled too if we return after 3 years, as in Dole, mortgage assistance, childerns allowance, back to school allowances, etc.

OP your not "entitled" to anything but you are entitled, like everybody else coming into the country legally, to apply for meanstested allowances and a meanstested medical card.
Be prepared for alot of form filling. Be prepared to produce lots of evidence that you no longer have any ties yo your country of origin.
If you are coming from an EU Staten particular UK be prepared to produce proof that you have no entitlement to SW payments there.
You will have to speak to your mortgage lender as there's no longer any state mortgage assistance here.

Sponge bob.... you will need to satisfy habitual residence. When returning bring proof of termination of lease in Oz. Closure of bank accounts in Oz. I dont know what type of visa you have but proof that this has expired or if sponsored that the sponsorship has ceased. I am presuming that you will be shipping personal items home so proof of this as well. When you do arrive back in Ireland go straight to you sw office and apply for jobseekers allowance... and also once this has been registered make contact with your community welfare officer and apply for supplementary welfare allowance while waiting for a decision on your JSA and habitual residence. Habitual residence shouldnt be a problem as you are Irish and own your own home here.
