Odometer reading suspect?

OK, a bit of an odd one.
Car: Renault Laguna 3 Privilege, 2008, 2.0 diesel, auto. Original Irish car.

My odometer reads just over 200k kms. I bought it second hand and I always thought that the car was in great shape for the distance covered. I put this down to motorway mileage. Now I'm beginning to suspect that the odometer has been over-reading.

On my last trip to London, a week ago, I set the trip counter and the bit in the computer that tells the distance covered since last reset, for fuel use purposes. I checked the trip counter halfway across Wales and it said 27kms! That surprised me as I live about that distance from the ferry. The distance covered since reset said a more believable 132km.

I thought I might have reset the trip by mistake and kept an eye on it. It seemed to be ticking over alright. When I arrived in London I checked both of the recorders. The trip showed 301kms, about 200 short of the other recorder, which was about right at 495km.

With my focus firmly on the recording, when I got home I was surprised to notice that the odometer had racked up almost 1500kms, for the return trip when it should have only been about 1000. Obviously I now suspect the 200k kms reading on the odometer.

With the trip counter under-reading and the odometer seemingly over-reading, is there any to verify the true kms on the car? Possibly from the ECU?

You don't have two trip meters and an odometer by any chance?

No Colm, just the one trip. The other meter I mentioned is the distance covered for the fuel use calculations.
