I'm looking t buy this 07 mondaeo with 188k kms. The car is advertised for 2000 euro and is absolutely spotless. The owner said that the car is smokey on high revs only. Otherwise mechanicaly sound .

I contacted the owner and asked if he tried to sort the problem. He said the mechanic briefly looked at the car and put it down to an injector problem (which I doubt) I know mondaeos are prone to a smokey engine but my questions are as follow:
-could the "smokey at high revs only" be a quick fix?
-are there endless amounts of possibilities?
-how much would it cost to fix? (Estimation)
-how much oil would I be using a month if I drove roughly 10k a day?

Anyone with any knowledge of the mondaeos feel free to comment. I'm just wondering if the buy would be worth the while as I'm not laded an 2 grand for a clean 07 mondaeo with low miles seems like a bargain with the expected hindrances

Do you have a link to the ad? I'd be dubious over an 07 mondeo going for 2k, there's obviously more wrong with it than meets the eye, or something that's a simple fix. I'm assuming it's a mk3, old shape?

Its on done deal in damaged/repairable section. Easy enough to find. I am very dubious over the price but worth a look me thinks.

What was the issue with it that it is listed under the damaged/repaired section?

You also need to ask yourself why is it so cheap? If its as good as you say then surely it would fetch more even if just a bit smokey. Have you had the car checked out? Don't be blinded or smitten by a a cheap price.

Car isnt as cheap as it looks. Fords dont hold their money.
Last december a garage at home sold a 07 mondeo 2.0 turbo diesel for 2300 with a fresh nct. He said he was happy to get that for it as it was hard to shift on

When I bought mine (04 1.8 petrol) I noticed this, there are 00 and 01 Yaris's and even Micra's going for more money then some 03-05 Mondeo's. The diesels do tend to fetch for more but not by much.

If you are patient OP you could pick up a clean example for under 3k or even 2.5k, they are a lot of car for the price they go for today, assuming you look at a zetec or anything higher in spec.
