Creak noise in cranks?

    Hi all,

Just trying to figure out an annoying creak which randomly occurs in what feels like the crank arms. I could just be pedalling along at a normal pace - not uphill or putting strain on the cranks or frame and there'll be just a "clunk" noise. No change in pedalling or gears at all.

    Bottom bracket

    Chain rings

    Pedals

    Take your pick....

Might also be something other than BB area-I had a similar noise a while back and it turned out that the stem bolts were slightly under-torqued, which resulted in a creaking sound. Best bet is to just bring it to your lbs and get them to diagnose.

    check your cleats also

id a similar problem a while back noise was driving me mad

took off pedals took out bottom bracket, re-greased and re-lubed the whole bike
    still noise was there

turned out it was coming from my bloody cleats

Thanks for the reply but I use flat pedals and runners, not cleats or clip less pedals, though they are next on my list.
