    On 29th August this year . . .. and I'm going to be in the area .

    Anyone ever done it ? It looks mad, but fun. Closed roads,....... Road bikes , MTBs , trikes, unicycles, Road skis....anything goes, and it is unsupported , so you need to think rucksack etc :D

    I've done it but not on closed roads. It's a nice climb.

    ive done it, but not on a bike. Can be cold at the top, even in mid summer so bring a jacket

    @Raam, @Lennymc

    Thanks, I know loads of guys have done the Stelvio, often as part of the Maratona, but it was more specifically about the annual Bike Day that I was enquiring. The unsupported aspect should make it a bit, eh, fun.

    I've never climbed at those altitudes, a long climb for me is 7k or 8k at 5% and 120km is about my comfortable max in a day, so I'm not sure what I'm facing. :)

    It will all be taken at <10kmph and in my 34/28.......

    You don't need a rucksack anyway. Shops in the town at the bottom, shops at the top.

    Do they sell winter bike gear, though? :p

    I think that's where the rucksack need arises......

    Jacket, buff and gloves in your pocket. That's all you need. Last thing you want on your back for that climb is a bag!

    All to be deployed while moving, otherwise it's cheating. Gazzetta Dello Sport up the jersey optional.
