...that people actually still believe in any form of religion when all evidence, historically and current, proves it to be complete and utter nonsense.

For years I was brought up to let others believe what they want, but as an adult now and thinking by myself, why would we not criticise those that try to force religion upon us? Why would we not condemn all religion for the crazy absolute works of fiction it is?

The atrocities to humanity that have been committed over millenia in the name of religion is staggering, and yet even today here in Ireland people are putting their hands on a fictional book and swearing to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. What craziness is this?

Well you never know - there is a tiny possibility that a God exists.

And people are still bringing up this nonsense for as long as people believed in a God. Move along and find something more relevant to bother yourself with!

Why people believe in God? ......Did you really think you could fathom or make sense of this ? Its one of those untouchable subjects, can't be explained or rationalised but also those who do shouldn't be criticised..... No good comes of this topic lol

If you had not been told the stories of religion, or been brain washed as a child, there would be no religion. Religion is just a sneaky way to manipulate people and obtain control over them. Its so obvious that I wonder how seemingly intelligent beings can stand there and spout such nonsense at all.

Imagine you had never heard of God and all of the whoppers in the bible and suddenly I produced this book and tried to pass it off as fact, I would be locked up!

What has this rant of a thread got to do with Christianity?

It's all just one big conspiracy, isn't it!

Not sure what point your trying to make here. Do you want someone to produce evidence that there is a God or do you want to convert some of the believers ?

Religion is a state of mind for a lot of people, does it matter if it exists or not...

Its a mind in some state alright. I probably have came to the wrong place to ask the question, because religion is so insane, that anyone believing in it must surely by definition, also be insane. Am I likely to get much sense form the insane? Probably not.

I do not know where else to ask though because its only the religious that could possible offer some explanation as to why they believe in something so fabricated.

The whole "their soul is in heaven" stuff is something that I find quite perplexing. When something dies, they are dead. There is no such place as heaven, its just ridiculous. What is it with the human condition that we struggle so much to accept death for what it is, why must we create some place of fiction to pretend that once someone dies they still exist, and we will be reunited there at some point. I mean I see the attraction, its kinda cute, but honestly it shouldnt really be something required by adults to cope with the loss of loved ones. Death is sure a terrible thing, but its just a part of the cycle of life.

    MOD NOTE

Locking this as the nature of the thread is not appropriate to the forum.

Referring to the Bible as a work of fiction and stating there is no place of Heaven is disrespectful to the beliefs of Christian posters.

Christian posters are not required to defend their faith.

There are ways to discuss Christianity but referring to it as 'crazy absolute works of fiction' is not it.

Please consider the nature of posting for any future contributions in the forum.

    Thanks for your attention.
