Is that an old one ? Some of the clips they used for the promos seem familiar anyway.

If you do watch this then you really must watch "Death of a cyclist, the Marco Pantani story" also.

    Thanks for that.
About half an hour ago RTE said there was a program about Lance Armstrong.
I looked at Aertel and didn't see anything with the words "Lance Armstrong" :o
Now I am settling down to get confirmation that he is a wrong un.

    According to the Sky Plannner-
    Stop At Nothing
"Intense drama starring Veronica Hamel and Lindsay Frost , 1990. A divorced father's estranged wife suspects him of abuse and contacts a man to kidnap their daughter."
    Bet he'll deny everything.

Fantastic documentary, he really was a nasty individual. He really had friends in high places.

Nothing new but his life really has been epic story. Great watch.

He makes for a great villain. I'm surprised that the whole saga hasn't been made into a (non documentary) feature film. It probably will be once the dust finally settles on the lawsuits.

brilliant alright, he is a sociopath. What he did to Greg LeMonde were the actions of an insane man.

He's had some life; hardly a 'bell-end' in my book.

You watched the movie or the youtube clip?.. I can't seem to find the movie.

I seen the documentary on Netflix, a completely ruthless bastard and good riddance to him.

Eh what? Please PLEASE elaborate? I'm really interested to know how anyone can defend this guy?

He's basically been doped since day 1, destroyed peoples lives and careers that might be a threat to him, made a fool of charitable organisations and completely obnoxious to any critic!

Lots of people come from broken homes and get life threatening diseases without being sociopaths.

Also the cocktail of sh*te he was consuming may have been a factor in the life threatening disease

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭Einstein?

He was a brilliant cyclist and a hero to many cancer patients. He was a role model to anyone that watched him until he was found out.

He doped... but who didn't? no dope, no hope. He got caught in the limelight and no one can relate to having 7 yellow jerseys in the closet and say there was a better way to deal with things other than the way he did.

As for the way he affected his teammates he allegedly fell out with; I think that's all gossip and good seeds for speculation.

Destroying numerous peoples reputations, careers and businesses... yeah maybe there was a better way to deal with things.

Likely not but many doctors have since said that his doping and what he was taken prior to diagnosis would have rapidly accelerated it.
    Einstein? wrote: »

Many didn't. Fernando Escartin for example, 3rd in 1999 is considered to have been a clean rider. There are plenty of others we could go through each year but don't have time at the moment. It's a frustrating agrument, he doped but so did everyone. No they didn't. A lot did but so to a lot stayed clean.

Just to get one thing clear, Armstrong may have 7 yellow jerseys in his closet, but he has no Tour de France titles on his palmares.

From watching the many documentaries and also meeting Greg LeMond face to face, there's a lot of evidence against him of people he tried to destroy and discredit, and it ain't pretty!
That and the way they ran the program are what stands him out above the other cheaters...

In that documentary, Travis Tygard mentioned that he was threatened with "a bullet in the head"!

    Nasty!

i think the one thing which sums up the hypocrisy - not even talking about the bullying and vicious lies - is that he can't rely on the 'level playing field' argument, an example being the day tyler hamilton left everyone - armstrong included - in his dust, and armstrong rang hein verbruggen and told him to do hamilton for doping.

    level playing field my hole.

Have you watched any of these documentaries, Einstein?

The fact that he bullied and intimidated anyone who questioned the myth is why people are so repulsed by him.

Not just that he doped; but that he threatened to destroy (and almost succeeded, in many cases) anyone who tried to undermine his massive ego. All the while he knew the allegations were true.

He is truly a vile human being, IMO, regardless of his (tainted) acheivements and his cancer recovery.
