Concealed door

I am getting a kitchen built adjoining a living room. The living room wall has a fireplace protruding into the living room and two alcoves. Wall is 9" blocks laid on their side. House is 70years old. I want to put a door into one alcove between kit and living room but want it to be concealed from the living room. I saw pictures on the net of hidden doors with beading skirting attached etc but all seem to be made of wood partitions. Builders said they'll do it but want me to show how. They said architrave needed to cover gap between frame and door but I don't want architrave. I think I need special hinges too. Anyone any experience of this. Door will be in daily use so don't want a book case on it. Also needs to protect living room from kitchen noises. Any help would be much appreciated.

Please let me move our conversation here from PM. I thing door on the last picture what I sent you, are avaible in systems for solid walls also. Frames are inside the wall and are covered by plaster.

Thanks, happy to get post moved. I watch boards but don't post much so would be happy if it was moved to more appropriate section.

Great, thanks. I showed the drawings and images to the builder and he reckons he'll be able to sort it as luckily there is some plaster board in front of the brick walls - one of the few rooms in the house that has plaster board. Many thanks again - it was a major hassle for me trying to figure it out.

Make sure he will prevent the edge of the wall from cracking.

I think he's going to remove the plaster board and put up some ply-wood to meet the edge of the door. I'm still intrigued but thankfully he understood your drawings and speaks Polish too.
