Both would probably use the same amount of electricity to boil the same quantity of water, the laws of physics demands so.

Unless the insulation is really poor in one unit relative to the other or the it's material made of is conductive.

Are you able to make a single cup with either, without heating other water.

The real cost will come down to heat losses, not the heating of the water.
