    Hi
Looking for opinions on bow ties, I have a wedding next month and have found a lovely three piece suit and I am in two minds if to wear a bow tie or a normal long tie...I think the bow tie looks great with the style of suit ,but I am a shy kind of guy and don't want to make myself stand out to much.
For those of you that know more about fashion than me, is a a bow tie a bit to much....
Would appreciate some input from the ladies as well 😀

Wear what you feel comfortable in, If you put it on and look in the mirror and say 'I like this' then wear it.

Honestly if you are happy then that will shine through in your confidence in the suit.

Well, all I can tell you OP is that I am a BIG fan of bow-ties. I wear them a lot. I think they look brilliant but I will say that you will get comments. Not so much anymore, because they are becoming more common, but they are still pretty unusual at your bog-standard Irish wedding. So be aware that it's a bit of a statement.

What i would recommend is that you don't get a pre-tied bow-tie. Get yourself a self-tie (loads of places stock them, TK MAXX can often have some, and you'll get them in the likes of Debenhams and other spots, but online is your best bet for value) and learn how to tie it. It's really not that hard, and if you're going to wear a bow-tie, might as well do it properly. Plus it looks pretty snazzy when you're at the "loosen the tie" portion of the evening!

This is the best video I've seen as to how to tie one. Once you get it once, you'll never look back!

They're definitely not too much. If you find a nice one, wear it. They are quirkier though and generally not something I'd wear with a more formal suit if that makes sense? There was a phase there where it just became so cliche to wear a bow tie that I shied away from them as everyone seemed to be wearing them but that has eased off.

But if it looks good, wear it good I say. Post some pics if you do decide to go with it.
