Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a samsung galaxy tablet 10inch over 3years old at this stage. Was in harvey normans today and stumbled upon the idea of a tablet and laptop in one. E.g microsoft surface pro3

U quite like the idea of this, but dont know if this brand of tablet competes with the like of samsung or apple.
Should i purchase? Or should stick with samsung?
Or is there better 2in1 laptops out there

The Surface Pro is a full Windows machine - it'll run anything your desktop would run. But detach the keyboard, and you can use it as a tablet. In some respects, it'll beat your current tablet, but if you have specific apps that you use extensively on your current tablet, you'll have to check whether they'll be available on Windows, or if there's an acceptable alternative.

Microsoft is taking a big bet that Windows 10 will help to close the "App gap", but it'll be a few months before we see whether that might pay off.

There are 2-in-one models available from all the usual suspects (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, etc) as well as "convertibles", where the keyboard folds right back, with a range of processors from Atoms to i7s, and priced from €400 to €3000.

Surface is a Microsoft product. The quality is as good as apple and IMHO far exceeds samsung. I have one myself, and my better half has a MBP retina 13". Quality on both is impeccable.

Very useful product. Very powerful. My only reservation is that it's not as nice to use in 'laptop' mode as a regular laptop.

a round up here of some options:

Have a Surface RT myself, couldnt recommend it as its a dead OS (grand for internet and streaming though) but similar form factor to Surface 3/pro in that they have type covers to make them laptop like. Great if you want it primarily as a tablet but can be a bit awkward to use a a laptop on yer lap but fine on a flat surface.

I've had one for 2 years or so now. Great little table. It probably needs a case or something to prop it up at times, but that goes for most tablets. It's served me well over the years.

It's never been slow, it's good for browsing (using IE is best imo), and I can install almost any windows app that I would on my laptop. That being said, I mainly use it for browsing and watching videos.

    Thats great to hear.

So far, mine has spent a couple of days ( and nights ) installing various multigigabyte updates.

Did you have any trouble getting the SIM support to work ?
