Rules on children in pubs?

    Hi all!

Will be travelling around Ireland for a couple of weeks (I moved abroad years ago) with my extended family (in-laws, OH and two kids) and hoping to be able to have a few pints in some nice pubs, maybe some live music as well. With two children in tow though (aged 9 and 11) I was wondering what the rules are regarding them being allowed into pubs? Ideally in the evenings we'd be able to go for food in a pub, which would then tick all the boxes (getting fed and watered in the one place).

Also are the rules applied differently in different parts of the country? I'd imagine being in a pub in the evening with kids might be more complicated in Dublin City Centre than in a small country pub.

Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Kids need to be out by 9pm from 1 October to 30 April
Kids need to be out by 10pm from 1 May to 30 September
It is against the law for a young person under 15 to be in a pub without a parent or guardian.

Rural pubs in tourist areas, expecially those serving food, you should be grand for the most part as long as they're not a nuisance. Cities less so.

Ok, thanks all for the info. Wasn't planning on being out too late with the kids anyway, just time enough to have a feed and a couple of drinks.

The kids shouldn't really be drinking though.

Yeah, definitely a bad idea letting kids drink, it totally blew the budget for the week the last time I did that!

Dealing with their hangovers the next morning is also a nightmare.

Not to mention the fact that they can hold their drink better than me.
