Who can wire my house?

    hello folks,

I want to rewire an old bungalow, complete job which has been remodeled. It is currently disconnected from the esb so I will need a re-connection when the wiring is complete.I have a friend who is an electrician but all his registration certificates with the relevant bodies have expired a long time ago.
Can he do this and somebody else certifies the work? Or can only the registered electrician do it? I do not want to approach him if he cannot do it as he will only jump at the chance to make some money. However if there is a way that he can do I would like to give him some work.

    Thanks a lot,

Under current law only a registered electrical contractor (REC) can only wire a new circuit and work on a fuseboard so that kind of answers that question.
Your spark has to be registered with either Reci or Essca

Since 2013 by law only a registered contractor can do restricted electrical works such as new circuits and consumer units so you've no option.

    SNAP!

And it has to be done to current regulations
