I have having a disaster as the mo!

So I got a replacement handle for my upvc window. When I went to replace it only 1 screw would go in. So I played around with it and realised the metal internal part of lock was broken. I didn't realise I had the handle in the lock position while the window was open. Now I can't get the handle back in to unlock the window!! And the window is won't close!!!

The metal parts are literally loose inside the bottom.

Could anyone help me...even just to get window closed till Monday?

    Thanks a million

Could you not just take the handle off, and root around to try and get it to the "unlock" position? Then close it over, and root around to "lock" it again?

Thank you so much for your reply!
I tried that but no joy!
I just got a brain wave...I unscrewed (from underneath) the bar where the lock is! And now I can close my window!!
So now I just need to buy a lock :)

PHEW says you! Could you take the locking mechanism out a a window thats less important, like a garage window or something? Just if you wanted a bit of security in case the kids open it or something!?!?!
