    Hi all,

There are various threads discussing this XX D 120XXX reg plate issue for imported cars, but I can't find a definite answer as to whether imports are still issued those 'marked' 120XXX numbers, or if it was only for certain years, or what?

I imported a used 2007 car in 2007, and got a 'normal' reg number. I'm about to import a 2012 car from the UK, can anyone tell me for sure what type I will get? I hope they've ironed out their little 'computer problem', ahem....

    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, but there are others saying that they got the long number for 2011 cars: "My wife's 11D import brought in around the same time got the big number." http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=83575187&postcount=12

Do you know any links or anything to official sites that spell out how it's determined? Can't find anything that says in black and white how it's worked out!

I'm not sure if it's different for 2011 onwards, but I got 121XXX for a 06 car last year.

I can tell you for sure, that this xxD120xxx nonsense doesn't apply to 11 car onwards, which obviously include 12D car you are looking at.

So can I. I drive a 2012 UK import and the number started at 40000 odd for the Dublin reg. There is no 12xxxx rubbish from 2011 onwards.
