When I left my last job I obviously received my p45 which I gave to my new employer. Now im still on emergency tax and when I rang revenue they said they never got the p45 from my new employer, who have assured me that they sent it to revenue. Revenue have asked me to get a new p45 from old employer but their accountant doesnt want to issue a 2nd one as it is "dodgy" that I have requested a 2nd one?

Surely as its my p45 containing my tax information then I am entitled to request a 2nd one?

Yes; employers aren't supposed to issue copies of P45 to employees http://www.revenue.ie/en/business/paye/guide/employers-guide-paye-cessation.html

Was it a typed P45 on cream perforated paper with the Revenue watermarked on it?
This would be the print out from the one submitted online via revenue.ie which would mean it has been submitted.

If it's any other type it's generated by a payroll software or completed by hand rather than the final version from revenue. This needs to then be submitted to revenue via ros and it may be a case that this hasn't happened correctly.

Ring the Revenue and ask them what they need from you to update the details; ie do you need to forward the P45 received.
Most likely your new employer's registered your employment online through ROS and still have the original.

Revenue also try and avoid hardship for the taxpayer. Ask them to update your credits to your new employer to a Week 1 basis until this gets sorted. This will take you off emergency.
