Clonsilla to Clontarf road

    Hi all,

    Anybody know if I can bring a a bike on the train at clonsilla, and does it go to Clontarf?

    You can, but only at certain times of the day if I recall, usually off-peak.

    It doesn't stop at Clontarf Road, it finishes at Connolly, where you'd have to change to a DART.

    I brought a bicycle on a commuter service yesterday outside the permitted time and there wasn't a problem. Either they don't enforce it or maybe they only enforce it for high demand services (I was traveling on a not so busy service against the general flow of peak time traffic)

    Hard to advise without knowing is it a one off, commuting everyday or what.

    Its probably about a 50-60 minute cycle on its own. Down the canal, then down clonliffe rd etc.

    If its commuting a fold up bike works well if its a neat and quick folder. Many aren't.

    The problem with a full sized bike is at peak the trains are crammed and they use the inter City trains which are tight for space. Though some have a bike rack. I'm writing this on the train and my bike is in the rack. Only holds two bikes though. At peak a full sized bike is a bit unfair on other passengers.
