Yeah Setanta took the rights for the next 3 years. What's their coverage like?

Who on earth would watch it over the BBC.

Why bother, at least TG4 employed a few people, rather than just a simple rebroadcast.

I could never understand why Setanta bid for events available on other channels with superior coverage (Wimbledon being a prime example) to anyone with Setanta. It's not going to drive subscribers to their service and surely is a waste of money.

Presumably by having a number of loss-leader events on Setanta Ireland, the BT Pack will be promoted in the advertising. That said, anyone who can afford to subscribe is doing so already, one suspects.

It fills a 2 week window where they would be showing nothing.

They used to show movies in the summer if you remember.

They had an Irish season with IFB/BSÉ one year but that was at night.

Last time I saw Setanta Ireland it was largely filler.

The BBC have coverage of Wimbledon on BBC 1 & 2 including in HD & 6 Red Button streams if you have them available on Satellite.

It would be interesting to compare TG4's viewing figures re Wimbledon with Setanta's.

Would be interesting to see TG4 viewing figures full stop - unlike Medialive, they only update their website very sporadically!

you can't compare figures as wimbledon wasn't on tg4 this year.................

Presumably, he means between 2015 and 2014.

Exactly that was what I meant. TG4 must have greater reach than Setanta as it is FTA and even if you subscribed to Setanta here in NI, Wimbledon coverage was geo-blocked due to UK programme rights.
