    Hi,
was checking this incident on Aviation Herald - http://avherald.com/h?article=488ab919&opt=0, and at the start of the video
you see an external view from the tail of the A380 takeoff - is this standard on an A380 ?
and does the camera stay on for the whole flight ? it's a pretty cool feature.

Was on one in January, as far as I remember there are 2 external cameras and both stay on for duration. Open to correction though as I was busy snoozing and watching movies on the excellent inflight entertainment system.

Emirates have external cameras on their 777s. They stayed on for the whole flight, though they were pretty useless at cruising altitude. I would say it's an optional extra.

3 external cameras for A380, 2 for 777, as mentioned before - they stay on but are pretty useless in flight and at night due to poor resolution and video quality

it's pretty decent, I like the food as well, some people find their 777 cramped, I think they're the same standard as anyone else these days.

The 10 across Emirates 777s are pretty terrible if you are on the aisle (almost guaranteed to be bumped every time someone walks past). Having said that, the food/entertainment is very good, especially compared to most European/US airlines.

I was on an Iberia A340 a few years ago which had a nose and tail camera, was pretty cool alright

I was on a SAS A319 last week that had a nose camera. It displayed a video of taxiing and take off, and then ran for maybe 15 minutes after that. It was the first time I'd ever seen it, and it was interesting.

Have to agree. Flew to thailand with them found it fairly cramped.

2nd time I went I flew on China Airlines A340 with 8 across. You would definately notice the extra space.

British Airways have the camera disabled on the IFE on the A380 which is a big pity, especially when you are seated in the middle rows abeam the wings.

You have no awareness of what the aircraft is doing. Not sure if they have the camera enabled on any other aircraft in the fleet but I would presume not

Normal configuration on all 330/340s. 9 is hideously tight. Narrower tube than a 777 so 8 in a 330 is similar to 9 there

No, that was for a very brief introductory period only

I wouldn't fancy that view going down in an accident...
